Important message from the Polk County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Section advising residents a raccoon was impounded from the 6800 block of Flanders Station Drive in Polk City, FL 33868.  This raccoon was confirmed positive for rabies from the State Laboratory in Tampa today, August 22, 2018.  Please make sure ALL your pets are currently vaccinated for rabies, and report any suspicious acting animals to the Polk County Sheriff's Office Animal Control at 863-577-1762.  Thank you.
