Polk County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Section advising residents a bat was impounded May 31st from the 1600 block of Robertson Street in Lakeland. This bat was confirmed positive for rabies from the State Laboratory on June 1st. Please make sure all your pets are currently vaccinated for rabies, and report any suspicious acting animals you may encounter to the Polk County Sheriff's Office Animal Control at 863-577-1762.
